The AA/EPA test recommended by Dr Barry Sears measures the ratio of Arachidonic Acid (AA) to Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) in plasma or serum.

The book explains in simple steps a plan to reduce silent inflammation within thirty days. The dietary-routine prescribed by Dr. Sears includes eating in accord with the Zone Diet , five meals every day, consisting of lean protein, complex carbohydrates and monounsaturated fat.

To this eating scheme, one must add a daily high dose of fish oil supplements. Physical exercise and stress-management techniques are also recommended and detailed in the book.
