This chapter contains alternatives for eating in the zone, ranging from zone cuisine at home, to fast food on the road.
Sometimes the Zone Diet may seem rather unfriendly when it comes to choosing among several diets. If you are a beginner, unofficial paths will also provide information and support.
Fortunately, matters have been clearer since 1995, when Dr. Barry Sears published his first book about the zone diet, “Enter The Zone”.
How Difficult Is It Really to Cook in The Zone?
The zone is advertised not as a simple diet, but as a lifestyle. Zone followers take this very seriously and are willing to share their experience with other people. Sometimes “zone” becomes their long-term goal and an occupation that fulfills their lives.
Zone Diet Advantage: 100s of recipes, weight-loss tools, 24-hour support!
Why should you approach these people?
- They are willing to share their experience of the zone.
- You can benefit freely from their knowledge.
- They can be really supportive for beginners.
- They have many tips about measuring, cooking and staying in the zone.
- They are easily found on the web
We should also mention that usually, the Zone Diet adepts are neither doctors, nor nutritionists. They are ordinary people who successfully folowed the zone diet, and believe in it as a lifestyle. But you still need to consult a physician before you start “zoning”.
One website we really liked is Karen's Kitchen. It offers many recipes (everything about zone meals, drinks and snacks), includes a vegetarian section and another one for "newbies". "Kudos and Catastrophes" is an attractive medium in which you can confess if you step out of the zone by accident.
Another website is: Len Marinaccio's Zone Diet Site. Marinaccio offers an application that he calls “ZoneBuddy” which might be helpful in creating meal plans, keeping track of different foods and nutritional values.
People at Zoneful Thinking claim they have the answer for beginners. Check out this website.
Pamela J. Masshardt offers a website that approaches the problems of food addicts: Full of Faith, from Pamela J. Masshardt.
Cooking should no longer be an obstacle for zone beginners. You will find there's no need for cooking if you do not have time or you are not in the mood. Alternatives such as home delivery and fast food are wide open to zoners just as they are for people on normal diets.
